Has anyone ridden this bike? At $7000 for just the frameset, just curious if it offers some sort of existential experience or something (maybe it's so fast you don't even have to pedal)?

Pinarello is kind of like Ferrari, in my book. A name and a badge representing a dynasty of bikes with a current lineup of exotic-looking breeds. And a price tag to match.

Understand the analogy, but Colnago is the Ferrari of the bike world!
The same carbon fiber factory does work for both companies actually....

I guess that could make the Pinarello the Lambourghini (sp?)

And the answer to the original question... sorry have no clue :-)

Colnago is the Ferrari of the bike world? The Corvette maybe, but not the Ferarri IMHO. Every man woman and child around where I live rides a Nago (and thus why I don't want one). Pinarello is a much more exclusive ride, much like the Ferrari.

The ART factory does indeed make carbon fiber components for two companies... Colnago and Ferrari... I don't know if you can get any bike closer to Ferrari than that?

Italian Bikes?

Bianchi=Fiat; a taste of Italy for the masses, with style, heritage and nice ride
Colnago=High end Alfa Romeo; performance+style but still relatively accessible
DeRossa=definitely a Ferrari; slightly more exotic than Colnago, purely a racing ride
Pinarello and Wilier=Maseratti. Nothing more must be said.

As to all of them, che bella!!!!
and please, no Shimano or Aerobars. Ever.

Okay, agreed it would be sacrilige for anything but Campy, but as for the aerobars, the OP spoke to the FM1, a TT bike (yep - aerobars, sorry).

The FT1 is new, I believe the first-ever tri-specific Pinarello; same frame as the Montello but a different carbon lay up.

TT bike is fine--Colnago C50 Krono, Bianchi D2 Crono, the Pinarello Montello; Wilier Cento Crono---all fine. You dont see too many of these out there.

I should have qualified to clip-ons attached to Italian road frames with drop bars. That's sacrilege.

And now for my 500th post!

Sorry, I violated the Shimano rule (God forbid! It's even Ultegra, not Dura Ace!). I was going to build with Sram, but the bar end shifters were ridiculously expensive. I don't have the tools for Campy. But it's still s sweet bike!

*gasp*  you might as well put reflectors on the spokes, streamers on the bars and a pink  basket up front replete with plastic daisies!

j/k - nice ride.

Its OK, as long as you are repentant and say 3 Hail Marys, 3 Our Fathers and offer a solemn promise to never, ever do something like that again.

Seriously tasty ride though!

Oh, and on the Italian TT theme, lets not forget the Kuotas. They are very nice, even though they are spec'd with shimaNO. They are really the only Italian entrant in the mass TT/Tri market.

No, that's 3 Hail Sheldons and 3 Our Zinns and I do solemnly promise not to deface another frame with ethnically incompatible grouppos.
