Subject: Weight machines without numbers
To try and save time, I thought I should go to the health center at our office during lunch to do my strength training. I noticed a lot of the weight machines either 1) don't have any of the weight amounts on the plates, 2) have numbers on them, but they are not in order, or 3) have numbers on them and are correct. Is there a way to calculate the amounts of each plate? Are there standard measurements? I thought I was gonna be slick... guess not.

Generally, each plate is 10 lbs. and they go up in 10 lbs. increments.

Although they don't necessarily correlate to any "real" weight.  i.e. if you can do what the press machine calls 150, you probably can't bench 150 with free weights.   If you use the same machines every time, just number them in order from 1-20 (or whatever) and keep track that way.  All you need to know is that you are making progress and getting stronger.
