Subject: Stay Puft Marshmallow Men

Welcome to the March Challenge....

The mythical Stay Puft men seem to appear out of nowhere to regularly haunt the members of peep town. Their thundering footsteps through the town send everyone cowering until the disappear as mysteriously as they arrive

By special request around half of this team is based in California.

Your team line up is:

1. abud77

2. AlexB

3. BunnyB

4. LJR

5. nevergivin

6. Owl Girl

7. sparco

8. spokes

9. UTTriman

10. wplummer

Please take the time wherever you can to get to know your team members through team chatter here and inspires on their logs. The more motivation you can give each other, the higher chance you wont be declared  marshmallows at the end of the month! (I mean who doesnt like some team support to get them going?)

You need to chose a team captain and I will drop back in the next couple of days with a spreadsheet for you to use to track your team results. I will set up a teamcaptain/ leaders thread for each team to check in everyweek.

As mentioned in the original post reporting weeks for the challenge are as follows:

Week 1: March 1 - 9
Week 2: March: 10- 16
Week 3: March 17 -23
Week 4: March 24-31

Please make sure your logs are up to date at the end of each week, and don't forget to report your weekly results to your team!

You can increase your individual goal anytime throughout the challenge, just make sure your team captain knows of the change so they can let me know in the weekly check ins. I will post an update on the challenge in a thread each week and let your team know when it is ready... I make these on a separate thread as its a good chance to mention how great you are going to the other teams!!!

In case you missed it there is a loosing penalty for this challenge:
1) If your team looses the Peep Wars then you will be required to change your avatar to a Peep/Marshmellow for the month of April
2) If you fail to meet your personal goal in the Peep Wars, you must add a signature line that declares " I am a marshmellow and need to harden/toughen up!" for the month of April

FINALLY... this is a competition so feel free to drop in on the other teams with pictures, comments and banter - they will probably do it to you!

So I suggest you introduce yourself to your team below with information like your training history, upcoming goals, family life.. whatever you like to share.. and THEN... RIDE YOUR BIKE! Im sure no one wants to end the month as a Peep, or a marshmallow!

Happy cycling
Cat

Oh, great Cat...put me with a team who are all out cycling in the sunshine (or rain), while I'm stuck inside on a trainer...

Well, I'll show you...I MIGHT just get out on my mountain bike next week, just so I won't feel left out...it will be above freezing...oh wait...maybe it won't...let me think on this one...

Hello fellow marshmallows!  (Hmm.  Not sure I like that.)  Anyway, I'm Tracy (owl_girl).  I'm from way far northern California on the coast.  It rains A LOT here so I will be doing most of my cycling on the trainer.    I do tons of Spinning classes, too.  Those won't be added into my miles, though.  (I feel like I'm cheating myself if I'm not sitting on my own bike seat! )

Let's get some serious GREEN on our charts!!!!!  Looking forward to meeting everyone!!!!  Cheers!!!!

Hi there!  It gets old riding in the rain day after day.  I hope my trainer gets completely wore out during this challenge so I can get a new one that doesn't suck as bad.

Hey everyone! Looks like we could have an awesome team! Anyone from California? LOL!

Will, need your help! I'm traveling to Ontario next week and need a couple of recommendations of good places to swim. I might stay in Ontario or Rancho Cucamonga. The hotel pools I know of are way too small.

Hi everyone - my goal for March is less about posting big numbers in terms of time/miles/km, but more about following doctors orders - sigh!  So here's what I'm supposed to do: 20min on the trainer every 3rd day.  If I counted right, that will get me a whopping 220 min by the end of the month - woohoo!  I might be able to increase that goal in a couple of weeks, we'll see.

Happy cycling everyone!

Hey all,

I am Amy, from sunny San Diego. Well, actually a suburb of SD. I am a big wimp when it comes to riding my bike. I do not like to ride on the road so when I do get out I ride at a local lake. If not I spin at the gym.

Oh yeah, in my spare time I am a stay at home mom of two kiddos. 4yo and 2 1/2 +.

Day 1 everyone, LETS GET BUSY!   LETS DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those who will be outside allot:

BE SAFE: Watch for nails and debris(rain washes onto road during winter). Ride with partner or group if possible. Be a defensive rider!

BE SAFE: Stretch. Hydrate. Don't get sick or injured. We win this as a team!

BE SAFE:Do a good check to make sure bike is in good shape, skewers tight, wheels aligned, brakes not rubbing, cables adjusted, good fit, and tires in good condition! If not sure make a quick trip to Bike shop and tell them they need to do a quick tune up and have 15 min to get you back on the road. Please ask any questions if you need help!

Be Safe:Above all enjoy the road, avoid what I do like wiping out on railroad tracks and getting stung by bees. Make this an opportunity to improve your riding skills!

Good luck to everyone!

Hey team! My name is Melissa and I'm another Cali girl. I live in Anaheim. I'm actually still just learning to ride a bike (yes, I never learned as a child ), so my goal is 6 hours in the saddle for the month. It will be a combination of on my bike outside, spin class, and trainer time.

I actually almost skipped this challenge when I saw it was for biking. I ended up deciding that since I've participated in the challenges each month for the past 5-6 months since I joined the board that I might as well keep the streak going. Heck, this might even actually motivate me to stop talking about learning how to ride and actually get it accomplished this month. LOL

Went on a nice little 18 mile ride today.  (I was going to do a time trial this morning but the weather sucked.)  I managed to run over a long piece of barbed wire strewn across the road from the torrential rains this morning and last night.  Thank goodness I didn't get a flat!  Well, I guess I'll find out tomorrow if I have a slow leak.

I'm excited to get to know all of you!  Cheers to a great weekend everyone!

I'll be riding tomorrow for a couple of hours (mt. bike). Today was a backcountry ski day, and a much needed day off from running, biking, and/or swimming. Looking forward to the challenge with all of you!

Hello Men of Marshmallow - please find attached to this post your spreadsheet for tracking your team through the challenge - Dee will shortly upload it too google spreadsheet for you.

The team can chose  if it wants to use the hard copy of the google version but from a team captains point of view... google is easier../ everyone updates their own progress and the team captain just reminds everyone to log in and update as well as providing any needed motivation
