Run
Comments: This run started out great: good pace, very comfortable, enjoyable. The beginning of the hilly section went well too: strong climbing. Around mile 9 left IT band (at knee) started talking. Continued rest of run, getting worse into the last mile. Had to stop and walk a couple of times to mitigate pain. Not excruciating, but definitely not good. Very frustrating, as I had a lot left in the tank and was wanting to push those last few miles, hills and all. What would you do differently?: More hill running, even in a flat place like Philly (where I've been the last three months): bridge running, hill profile on the treadmill, maybe an outing to a park. Also missed two key long runs (well, only missed one, but the other was on the treadmill, which is mentally challenging but ultimately a little easy on the legs). Post race
Warm down: Walking around Rodney Square (5:00) What limited your ability to perform faster: Pain in left knee, lack of hilly training runs. Event comments: Humbling race, but a good learning experience, and also the longest I've ever run. Last updated: 2008-03-05 12:00 AM

Gel 15 minutes before start.
Walk/jog, about 10 min.
