Ok, I have had it with always training alone. I need some partners. I also need some help focusing on my fitness goals. So here is what I am thinking.

I need 3-4 female (sorry boys!) partners in the area who might be able to get together about once a week to train. I don't care what -- swim, bike, run, weight training, etc. I don't care! I am a fairly slow triathlete (2min 100's, 14-15mph bike, and 11 min/miles), but I am really kick butt weight trainer. My schedule is crazy, but we could probably work something out.

I would love it if we could each set some individual training goals and a time frame for completing them. At the end of the time frame, it would be really fun to go to lunch and maybe shopping for a new outfit if we succeed.

Personally, I would like to get a minimum of 5 days a week of my workouts completed and my food logged. (I have some weighty issues that I would like to fix.) I would like the time frame to be 4-6 weeks.

Let me know if you are interested and we could get together to work out the details.

I would be interested! I need to get my booty out the door to train, and that would be goal #1. 5 days/week would be best, but 4 days/week seems like it's more likely to happen. getting together once/week or more would be great. I would also like to get my endurance up. I can do the distances/times for sprint races, but not within the training zones I want to stay in. My HR goes up about half way through my runs, and I haven't even tried to monitor it on the bike yet. My main issue will be scheduling as well. So lets see if we can work something out. I think we live fairly close together, so this will be great!

If I wear my black/lilac "unisex" tri shorts can I come train with the ladies?!? Haha.

If you ever want to invite a slow dude, let me know. Otherwise, you girls have fun!

What about a sport skirt?  That's the deal we make with the guys for r-ball.  They want to play with the ladies, they must wear a sport skirt

I think that's fair!  Kelly, Amy?  Y'all agree?

I'm game for training together, but Amy knows, it can be crazy.  Perhaps we find a day/time that usually is open week to week and stick to it consistently.  I'm sure if we gathered a group of about 6 of us that would usu. lead to 4 of us making it.

I'm having problems even making it to master's anymore

Right now I'm at slow pace, do nothing trying to rehab my ITB... but I hope to be full swing SOON!!!

Give me a call, all of you above know where to find me... right where I am this moment... at my desk

Well, I'm a girl.. and I want to train... but I think you would be too far advanced in the run for me. I am a pretty good swimmer though.

I wouldn't assume your slower than we are. Some of us are pretty darn slow. like turtle slow. It just helps to have the motivation to actually get to the workout if there's someone besides yourself counting on your presence, KWIM?

Sorry to barge in (again!), but speaking of power walking....

At my last triathlon, the crazy but fun reverse one at Pleasant Grove, there was a girl ahead of me on the run. I would start gaining a bit on her and then I'd get excited when she would stop jogging and start walking .... until I realized her power walk was freaking faster than my jog! Impressive.

I don't know some of those power walkers are pretty dang fast ;0)...

I just started the C25K program. In the past I have done too much too soon and have paid for it. I am hoping th C25K will help me pace myself. I think it would be very annoying to a runner even a slower one to have thier running buddy stopping and starting. I can bet that even if you ladies aren't fast - you can run all day. If I could run a solid 3 miles without needing crutches the next day I would just see if I could join you for a three mile section of your runs - but this start/stop thing annoys even me!

I did finally get the gumption up last night to start the program - my biggest problem. My DH agreed to to with me - but then backed out - in his defense it WAS late - so I just went by myself. It is annoying (60 run/90 walk for 20 mins ) but totally doable. Did any of you ladies use one of these training programs or did you just hit the neighborhood running?

All right. It is time to get this group actually going. I know a couple of you went with the Sharks on their Tuesday morning ride at 5:45-6:45. Could we make this a habit?

Well... I think I will continue to work my little program and in a few weeks or when I am mostly running and walking very short intervals maybe I will try to join you for a run - or a portion of your run. I hope you guys don't mind if I pop in and say hi and keep in touch. None of my friends runs or swims or anything so I really enjoy reading your posts. If you want to shoot some swimming questions my way - I might be able to help you. Although, you have probably heard it all before - but I'll give it my best.

I think making the tues morning sharks bike ride is a planned event for me. Barring hubby being out of town and the daughter not wanting to get the son out of bed for school. *roll*. So now what to about running? I'm at a 11-13 min mile pace during workouts, and I can't always run the whole time. I do break into the run/walk patterns depending on how I feel (99% of the time I still do it). Any days/time work for you guys to get together? (I vote Jody's allowed if he wears the skirt... )

I agree. Jody can come. How about we leave it at just a bike right now. I don't know what other time I can committ to right now. My work schedule is changing. Granted I am the boss and I make the schedule, but what I will be doing will depend a lot on the schedules of my new hires. I should know in a week or so what I can do once I get them off and running.

I will TRY to do Tues mornings...  but for goodness sakes that mean's I've gotta get to work by 5:30 to make it to y'all... of course, I guess I could just go park by y'all....  OR

OR I could leave at 4:50 am... ride to SJ... have a few minute break... and ride again with y'all....

Oh, wait... I have a 9am meeting at GC this next Tues.... I'm out, not gonna drive to SJ to drive to GC to drive back to SJ...

WAHOOO!!! I get to wear a skirt! Uh, I mean, sweeeeet! I get to go for a bike ride with y'all!

As long as the skirt matches my tri bottoms -- and there's probably a good possibility it does -- then I'm game Can I wear my coconut bra, too?

Quickly moving on ..... Heather, you lost me somewhere between GC and SJ or maybe it was between SJ and GC. Can I buy some vowels please? Lol!

I'll attempt to translate. i think they are:

GC: government center (county gov't)

SJ: South Jordan

Heather, did I get that right?

I think Heather must still be lost, driving back and forth between GC and SJ. I kinda figured South Jordan was the SJ part, but I wasn't quite sure if the GC was Great Clips, a Granger Clinic or the Grand Canyon!

So, Amy, can you share some wisdom from what you learned last night at the running clinic?

My 2 cents regarding boys: I vote MrWrite can come under the running skirt clause.

I'm OK with the coconut bra also but would like to warn you that they have been known to chafe, esp. with chest hair.. ) so bring bodyglide and bandaides

Amy, I might be able to join you for a little bit on one of your runs, if you like. DH and I are going out of town for a few days for our anniversary, but I could post towards the end of this week and maybe we could set something up.

That would be great. i think some of the other desert sharks ( turtle pace group) are hoping to set up some group runs as well. Maybe we'll be able to get a few more people to join us that way, too. Let me know when you're back in town.
