Swim
Comments: Swim felt really slow, although it appears to have been slow for everyone. I wonder if the distance was precise. I felt pretty good and had no problems, and in the pool would do this distance in 7:30-8 minute range. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: This was the worst part of the race. The distance from the water to the beginning of T1 was said to be 300 yds. The transition area was situated on a fairly steep hill and my rack was toward the end near the bike start. So in all I ran about 400 yds the last 150 of which was up a fairly steep hill. By the time I got to the rack I was winded. No real problems, although getting one shoe on was a little difficult. What would you do differently?: Not much different to do. Bike
Comments: I usually get passed by a lot of people on the bike and this race was no different. I don't have a tri bike and I assume it will help, but I went about as hard as I could go, which showed in my run. I will continue to train on the bike to get better. What would you do differently?: Train more Transition 2
Comments: Went reasonably well, although the trasition area as mentioned before was on a hill so running down to the rack with biking shoes was interesting. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: My slowest run this season. Usually I'm fairly happy with anything under an 8 minute pace, but this run was not good. I cramped early and never felt decent until the last 1/2 mile. The course was on a cart path of sorts and was extremely curvy, as well as hilly so it was difficult to get settled in. The 1/2 mile up to the turn around was up a very steep hill. What would you do differently?: I don't know. I've been training all year and running a lot. I was disappointed in this run, it was at least 1 minute slower than any run I've done so far, and almost 2 minutes slower than any brick I've run. Post race
Warm down: Had to meet my family to get to Charlotte, NC by 11am so I took off right after the race. Event comments: Set-up does a great job. This was the first time for this event and aside from having to park 1/2 mile away from transition, and the race ending about 1/4 mile from the transition it was a good race. Difficult course but for a sprint they should be. Last updated: 2008-06-24 12:00 AM
