I was looking at this bike and i assumed that it was a really good bike. But after reading some reviews, they say that the wheels are not too good. It has

Has anybody experienced any problem with these wheels?

I have never used those wheels, but I ride a Cannondale and would not trade it for any other bike on the road.

Do online selling websites normally let you change the spec of the bike that is on their site?

Billy, I ride the same exact bike, including the Parade wheels. I have not had any problems so far and have put several hundred miles on them. I read the same reviews you did and was a little worried, but haven't had problems yet. I think it may be more of a problem for heavier riders, one reviewer that had problems was over 200 lbs, I'm only 165.

Also, I did bring my bike back for service to my LBS. One of the mechanics mentioned their Cdale rep was in the store the day before and he rides the same wheels, loves them.

As far as changing out wheels, I'm sure most places will let you no problem, assuming they stock separate wheel sets. You might just have to pay extra.

I got the triple, that's just what they had in the store, plus being relatively new to biking I thought it would help me on the hills. Haven't used it much, but have been very glad to have it when I needed it.

i normally manage ok up any hills because i been told i have quite strong legs. did you change anything to the spec. The reviews said that the wheels go wrong after 1500 miles, but you have only riden hundreds

I changed the saddle and added clip-ons, using look pedals. Other than that, it's spec.

I changed the saddle to go with a more tri-specific saddle (Terry Fly Tri). I wouldn't worry about the triple, you can always get one with a double (there are two versions of the R800). As far as handling, it is great. Cdale is known for their frames. I think the frame on the 2004 R800 was rode by Saeco in the 2003 TDF, so you know it is good.

My Cannondale is a Tripple too, and I would not let that deture you from buying it. granted I live in a hilly area I do most of my riding on the middle and large chainring. That small chainring sure is nice when you need it. I upgraded my seat too, mostly because it wasnt the right shape for my butt. Cannondale builds a great bike with a great warrenty... I would not be worried about their products in the least. I am riding one now and when i replace it it will certinly be with another Cannondale.

Do the oversized handlebars allow clip-on tri bars to be fitted onto them?

Yes.  You can't use Syntace, but you can use Profile.  Not sure about other brands.

I had trouble fitting the Profile CGT. The problem with the oversize bars is that you need to clamp the aerobars pretty much right next to the stem. There is a taper area where you can't clamp them. I now use the Profile Carbon Stryke and had no problem fitting them. The airstrykes look like they fit similar to the carbon strykes, so you probably won't have a problem. If you measure the distance b/w the two attachment brackets (center to center) I'll measure my handlebars and let you know if you'll have a problem.
