3 dicipline racing
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 15m 30s
Overall Rank = 7/171
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 1/30
Pre-race routine:

Ate very small breafast. (Didn't make same mistake as last time.) Got there pretty early so I could pick a good transition. Also got plenty of warm up.
Event warmup:

Ran for probably 5-6 min, mixing up short sprints with long slow Jogging. Then even though it was cold I swam probably 200 meters. That made a huge difference as this was definatley a better swim time then the others.
Swim
  • 07m 43s
  • 400 meters
  • 01m 56s / 100 meters
Comments:

I lined up at for a 6:45 time. Pretty good swim. Really hard to pass, I waited a couple of times untill the end of a lap and they let me pass. I think I passed 2 and got passed by 2.
What would you do differently?:

Transition 1
  • 01m 28s
Comments:

4th out of 30 in my age group. 33 out of 171 overall. There was one 18 sec trans. a few aroun 30 and several under a min. I definatley could do better here.
What would you do differently?:

Get a little faster.
Bike
  • 40m 21s
  • 14 miles
  • 20.82 mile/hr
Comments:

Right out of t1 was a big hill. I thought I was going to die. But then I passed 2 people in worse shape then me and decided I'd be ok. I cont'd passing and started feeling better. Felt pretty good on the downhill sections. Second lap probably felt better than the first. I only got passed by 2 that I didn't repass.
What would you do differently?:

I will definatley ride the bike section before hand of every race I do. Even if I have to drive it. I need to know better what I am up against. There also shouldn't be any wondering which way to go during a race.
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

11 out of 30 in age group. 40th out of 171 overall. Need to get a little faster.
Run
  • 24m 59s
  • 3.25 miles
  • 07m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Tough run!!
What would you do differently?:

Not much I can think of. Maybe just be more ready for the hills.
Post race
Warm down:

Sat around eating bagles and bananas

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just my fitness level

Event comments:

The worst part of this whole race was that the first few riders on the bike course were led wrong by the Sheriff's dep. I heard that they rode a mile out of the way. No one wants to win because someone else got misdirected. I don't think I would have taked first in my aget group if everyone was directed properly. From now on I will make sure I preride every course before the race.
That being said WHAT A GREAT RACE!! The organizers did a great job with everything. I espically like having the time chips. It elimnates all the stop watch screw ups. My daughter did the kids tri as well and it was run great. Thanks 3d racing.

Great job! I came up and did the Anthem Adventure Race on Sunday, which was tons of fun. I was kicking myself for not doing the tri on Saturday. Ah well, next year!

That was also my first time up in Anthem. Strange feeling about that community...very much a "manufactured" feel. They had the nicest locker room at the pool that I've ever been in, though!
