Swim
Comments: Because I arrived late, my heat was already in the water. I was able to get in as others were finishing. At one point, I was the only one in the pool (that was very weird). Overall, my swim was good. What would you do differently?: Get to the race on time would be a great help :>) Transition 1
Comments: Knowing that my heat was at least ten minutes ahead, I took my sweet time in the transition area. Bike
Comments: To top things off with being late to the start, I got lost on the bike course and added over 2 miles to my bike. Transition 2
Comments: I was in no hurry to get out so I again took my time. Run
Comments: Easy run, however, just prior to the turn around my lower back started to tighten up. After the run, I did not experence any pain after the run. The run was kind of fun as there was a lot of encouragement from most of the runners. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and stretched out. Had a banana and Vitamine H2O. What limited your ability to perform faster: Arriving to the event while my heat was getting started totally took me out of the competition. I couldn't get focused, so I used the event as a training day and made the best of it. Event comments: The staff and volunteers did a great job. The swimming facility was very nice. Up early and had a plain bagel and some Ensure (Wild Berry) for breakfast. A cup of coffee for the one hour and forty-five minute drive to Lompoc.
Got to the event late, i.e., my heat had already started. Nevertheless, the coordinator let me get in the pool with my group as they were finishing up. With this in mind, I had no warmup. Oh well, it was one of those days.
