Getting ready to do my first sprint tri, and I'm trying to make a list of things to bring...what things do YOU bring to a race, or what should I NOT forget?

I think this is all I had yesterday

  • Big colorful towel to lay out in Transition under Bike (easy to spot, wipe feet
  • Swim goggles - (2 pair, just in case, and I use spit so no anti fog stuff)
  • Body Glide
  • Wetsuit if wetsuit legal
  • Sport Sunglasses
  • Cycling shoes
  • Filled Water Bottle for Bike +One on towel to chug a bit after swim
  • Any fuel you might use.  I choke down a Gu toward the end of the bike to power me thru Run
  • Helmet
  • Run socks- 2 pair (even for a sprint I don't like to run w/out)
  • Running cap
  • Running Shoes
  • Race Belt
  • Timing chip strap -- I have my own, cuz it's smaller + safety pin it together! Mine nearly got pulled off in my race yesterday
  • Change of clothes
  • USAT card / ID
  • Heart rate moniter if you use one

I threw a piece of my daughter's driveway chalk in the bag.  I noticed people writing thier numbers on the pavement in front of the bike.  It seemed stupid the first time I seen it.  Then as I ran in to find my red bike in a sea of red bikes, it did not seem so stupid.

Joe

Oh and a real comfy pair of loose shorts for afterwards Surprised
