So my 305 got drenched on Thursday run in the rain. Since then it's be all jacked up.

I've tried the soft reset and nothing happens when I hold mode / lap while on the charger. It turns on FINE while on the charger but as soon as I take it off it goes blank. This leads me to think potential battery issues. The screen does say it is charged fully. I've gone through and deleted everything out the history while on the charger.

It did turn on fine earlier today but the battery was so drained it kicked off within a minute.

Any thoughts on what I should do before possibly sending it back to Garmin?

Thanks!

Other than giving it a few days to dry out I would call Garmin and tell them what happened.  You might have to wait on hold with them for a little while so be prepared.  But after that if you are in warranty they will have you send back your unit and send you a new one.

I agree with waiting a few days and then checking in with Garmin.

Those units are not waterproof, but certainly should not have trouble just from running in the rain.  Both my wife and I own 305s and have never had problems running in the rain.  If you took it on the swim it would be a different story.

Just a little FYI. When it rains and I have my garmin I leave it ON and place it in my pocket and it still works and stays dry. I was in that rain also but left it in my running pocket.

I would def cal them because their customer service is great and then if you do have to buy a new one at least the price has gone down so much. 189 at amazon.

The best place for all electronics in the rain is a ziploc baggie.  I've ruined a cellphone by taking it on a run in the rain without protection.

I rode 9 hours in a downpour last summer going coast-to-coast with a 305 on the bike and did not have any problems.  I agree it is probably a battery issue or battery contact issue.  I'd put it in the freezer for 6 hours to dry out the contacts. If it still does the above then call Garmin.
