"Strength, strides, strokes & spokes"

Saw the below article in the paper today. Seems the artist (Paul Goodrich) is comissiojned by the USOC for a painting. I guess he's a modern Leroy Nieman if you will:

I didn't get how he chose triathlon from the article, but in seing all 3 of the tryptic (logical) I get it. I like the cycling panel myself.
