Hello, I am practicing for my first triathlon. I feel like an idiot for having to ask these question but I cannot find an answer anywhere....
A lap in a pool is back and forth, right? In other words, 1 lap is not from one end to another?
The pool I am swimming in is 25 yards. How many laps would I have to complete for 750 meters?
any info is greatly appreciated!
There are two camps of swimmers.
One group counts a "lap" just like you do, from one end of the pool to the other. In their mind, a 500 yard swim is 20 laps.
The other group counts a "lap" as down and back so you end where you started, at one end of the pool. For this group, that 500 yard swim is 10 laps.
750 meters is 820 yards, so you would need to swim about 33 lengths (instead of 30) to get that distance.
