Subject: NEED ADVICE: Swim to Bike Transition

I know this may sound stupid, but my first tri is planned for late Sept and it is a pool swim event (no wetsuit-I'm in TX), so my question is:

Do I swim in my bike shorts (padded seat) and then stay in them for the bike ride too (ouch).  I'm guessing that with a goal of 00:01:00 transitions there is not 'changing clothes'....

Thanks!

gh

Get a pair of cheap tri-shorts. You can run/bike/swim in them.

Ditto on that. If you look a bit, you can get tri shorts for about $10--look for closeouts on these sites:

swimoutlet.com

sierratradingpost.com

trisports.com

all3sports.com

You could also just pull your bike shorts on over your bathing suit.

x2 on trishort comfort v. bike shorts.

I hate bike shorts...just way too bulky for me. Feels like a diaper. Let alone WET bike shorts.

Worst case...swim in your swim suit and just throw on a pair of regular shorts over them and ride with those. I would definitely avoid swimming in bike shorts.
