Subject: pain from cortisone shot for neuroma
I recently had my third shot of cortisone in my foot for neuroma.  The last two times my foot bruised at the site of the shot and now I am experiences more pain right at the base of my toes where the shot was administered. It is more painful than the neuroma. Constant nagging pain. Any ideas what it might be????????

Welcome to BT! I see this is your post #1. You'll find lots of opinions here, experience and yes, some drama and debate. But it's a fun place to hang around.

As for the injection question, I share your misery. I had a neuroma on my index finger base knuckle, but the docs got the diagnosis wrong. They kept blaming arthritis even though I had no blood markers. In an attempt to calm it down, I got a cortizone shot. Man, I saw the white light of death! Of course I had given blood earlier that day and promptly proceeded to almost pass out. I had to lay down and get the smelling salts to bring me back. The shot provided absolutely no relief for the neuroma. It took a good 3 days for the pain to subside.

I'm surprised that they're giving you a "third" shot when the other 2 haven't helped? Is it time for another opinion?

I've had at least three cortisone shots in my elbow over the years (and probably due for another one).  The shot usually hurts like h*** for a couple of days and then the elbow feels good after that.

Apparently it's not unusual for the shot to cause more pain before the it feels better. I got a shot on Monday and was told it will hurt more until the next day. Then I should feel the benefits. Which is what happened. There was no mention of bruising, but it did happen.

I was told that a chiropractor visit can help with Morton's Neuroma's! I am going for my third shot tomorrow, but they hav ealways help me. But if I could somehow get rid of them without having to have the surgery, I'd be all ears!  Anyone else heard of this?
