You really only have one week left to train ... you won't make any significant physical adaptations in the two weeks prior to the race. Your body just doesn't have enough time to make them. And in one week, there isn't much you can do. The general advice for most people doing their first tri, even if they have trained for months, is simply to have fun and finish. That way, you are nearly guaranteed a good first tri experience. In your case, that goes doubly so. There isn't any way or any time to "finish as best I can." Be happy to participate, to simply finish, and proud that you've taken it upon yourself to do a tri! |
