Subject: underarmor for swimming?

Is this gear good for swimming?  I need something to protect me from the sun.  Also, is it ok to leave it on from swim to bike, and to run?  Any help is much appreciated. 

 

 

p.s i live in hot florida.

I am truly not sure how the clothes will hold up to the chlorine, but if you swim in the ocean I feel it will be fine. I mean my body is soaked in sweat after my workout so I dont see anything different being in water.

If you are looking for this to swim in, I would not reccomend it.  Correct me if I'm wrong but, if you are going to use them as "jammers" for swimming, why not get the real "jammer" from nike, speedo, etc.

I bought one for $17 for training, and they are made for this and are lasting quite sometime.  Also, underarmour is a little bit thiner.

If you are going to race on them, why not just get some tri shorts for a little bit more. You will be much more confortable on the bike !!!

I've actually swam/raced in the stuff.  It works fine. 

I use the long-sleeve shirt to make my "Farmer-Johns" into a "full suite."  Great shoulder rotation, and non-binding.

Im sorry I meant shirts.  Not the bathingsuit/ tri shorts.  I need a shirt wondering if under armor was ok, I read on navy seals website that it  causes chafing and skin irritation.  But maybe thats result of prolonged use during BUDS.  Any ways ill shoot them an email, any other knowledge on this please let me know.

Good, I thought you were talking about the shorts. Guys, these are not the equivalent of girls wearing just a sports bra, don't race in underwear!. As for the shirts, these are my choice for under the wetsuit. I leave them on for the whole race, you'll never get the wet shirt off in T1 without a struggle. They dry quickly, feel great, and never had any issues with them.

If you are using it for sun protection unless there is UV protection in the shirt you can still get burned.  Probably not likely but it is possible.  I see no problems swimming with it on as it is the same as a tri top.

Google rash guards for shirts that you can swim in. These are sometimes called swim shirts or surf shirts and made to use in the water. Many have UV protection. They are close fitting like underarmour but designed to be used while wet. They are very popular with surfers to prevent chafing while paddling out on the surfboard.

I used underarmour long underwear for all my races this year, and used a sleevless white shirt under my wetsuit to save some transition time. All went well, didnt see a problem, although i still want to buy a 1peice triathlon suit because they look stellar!!
