to begin light swim workouts as of a week from today. My biggest problem is limiting myself to a certain time or yards. I'm not sure how much / less to do? Prior to my surgery I was doing 2 swim workouts a week of 2500 - 2800 yards.

Anybody provide some insight that might have been through this prior? The surgery could be compared to a sports hernia so my joints are fine. It will be a total of 3 weeks since surgery.

Well the easiest answer (a little tongue in cheek though) would be to ask your doc what he/she means by "light."  However, generally I think that its best to see how you feel.  Go easy the first workout and see how your body responds to being back at it.  As your surgery did not involve a joint you should be able to fairly quickly build back up to where you were before the surgery.  Generally after hernia surgery we (I am a surgical resident) are most concerned with sports/excercise that involves straining or lifting.  Not sure how much of this you do, but that would be the area that I would be really careful with as it can weaken the integrity of your repair if it is not properly healed (usually 6-8 weeks not lifting greater than 10lbs for most hernias).
