Subject: Running Light

I have found that sometimes I have to go out and run at night as there just isn't enough time during the day. I live in rural part of Maryland that doesn't have any street lights and not too many homes. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a light to wear during running?

Never had any luck with a head-lamp, so I carry a xeon flash light. It's light, waterproof, and bright. Also have a red flashing light with an arm band, and a reflective vest. Drivers do not expect to see runners at night, make sure they see you.

Thanks. I'm not having great luck with head-lamps either. I wear a flashing light but not a reflective vest, though I have one from a previous job. Thanks.

Many trail runners use a Petzl Tikka or Black Diamond headlamp.

You can find them at outdoor stores like REI.

Not unusual to carry a very small flashlight too. The headlamp can be wide beam low power or narrow beam bright light. Trail runners will use the headlamp on wide beam to see a wider field of vision and use the bright light aimed near their feet to see rocks and roots.

I like this light which attaches to the brim of your cap. No extra strap around your head and so lightweight I forget it's there:
