Subject: Upcoming race, need advice on possible taper

I have my first tri coming up a week from this Sunday. It's a sprint distance and while I have a goal of finishing in under 1:30, this is a "B" race and I have been intending to do it as a hard training day. Given that, I'm wondering if I should even taper for it or not. My training for the week of the race is as follows:

Monday: B-1hour

Tuesday: R-45min/S-2,800m

Wednesday:B-1.25 hour

Thursday: R-50min/S-2,800m

Friday: OFF

Saturday: Brick(B-1hour/R-25min)/ S-2,900m

Sunday(race day): R-30min

I'm thinking that if I don't really need to taper that I can just change my off day to Saturday and move Saturday's brick to Friday. This would give me a whole day off and I think I'd be good to go for Sunday.

Anybody able to offer any advice on whether or not I should taper and if you think I should how would I adapt my training for the week?

Thanks!

personally if i train through a race i either A: just train right up to it and dont change anything (smaller races i know i will come out ahead in), or B: take my day off two days before the race and go for a short run and swim the day before.

i tend to do better with a bit of movment the day before and the rest a day or so out.

i am in a FULL taper mode for a half i have on sunday and i am going crazy, but i only have thisand one full left this season so i can afford to take the time to tper for it and not train through it, and i am going NUTS!

Yeah, IDK what to do. It's my first triathlon so I'm not sure how I'll react to a taper or a day off then a little bit of stuff the day before. This Saturday I'm competing in a splash n dash which is a 1000m swim and a 3k run. It's in the same lake the the sprint is in so I'm just doing it for experience. I'm obviously not tapering for that but I didn't know what to do before the sprint.

just do your normal training, maybe switch the brick a day sooner to give yo ua little rest the day before. thats a short race though, you should be good to go no matter what
