Subject: Aero bars on a MTB for training purposes?

Hi forum,

Newbie here again.  Earlier I posted a question about what bike to buy.  Supposing I wait till the spring to invest in a new road bike, I have the following question:

Q:  Can I install aero bars on my mountain bike and use it on my Blackburn trainer at home?  Is this a good idea?  (My rationale is that I continue to save money for the road bike, but in the meantime I can train with a bit of a feel for the aero bar - I know the fit will be different than using it on a road bike)

I actually just found an old thread on this topic.  Sorry.  Consensus in that thread was that the geometry of the MTB is not ideal for using an aero bar.  Perhaps I'll just train with the MTB and wait to buy the new road bike, aero bars, etc.
