To those of you in Louisville, where do you usually swim?

I did the majority of my swiming this past summer outdoors but now I'm looking for a good place to swim for the fall/winter.  I've been to UofL and Mary T. but both have their downfalls...the hours aren't great at UofL and Mary T. can get pretty crowded.  Any suggestions?

I swim at the Northeast YMCA.  The hours aren't great and the lanes can be crowded there too.

I have memberships at the NE YMCA and at JCC.  I typically swim at JCC, very close to home, during the summer when their outdoor lap pool is open.  I have found the opposite of the other poster on the Y.  Maybe, it the hours that I go there to swim, but it is the least crowded pool I've used in town.  In the 6 months I've been going there, I've only had to share a lane once, maybe twice.  I used to swim at the Mary T. Meagher Center, but it is a very busy pool and the monthly fees are only slightly cheaper than the Y and the Y offers a much better overall facility.

I have swam at the NE Y for a year.  I typically go after work @ 5pm.  This is obviously a pretty busy time.  I rarely have a lane to myself.   I will admit that the weekends are usually not crowded at all.

I swim at the NE YMCA and the Downtown YMCA. The NE Y is nice from 5 - 7 AM, the DT Y is good during lunch hours.

Also check out the Y in southern IN. New Albany Y has usually 4 dedicated lap lanes, decent hours, and kid care.

dont worry about crowds. part of the training process is learning to adapt to other people in the pool. just be considerate when you get in with someone and asked whether they want to split or circle.Laughing

Tom Sawyer Park has lap swimming from 6-9 during the week for 5 dollars.  It's a full 50 meter pool which is nice.

I went to Tom Sawyer last week, they only charged $3.00 after 7:30. Not bad, no lane ropes so you get a feel for a little bit of chop..

BTW- is anyone in Louisville or close doing any open water swims??  I need help in that area and would like to meet up with others just to be on the safe side to get some practice before Ironman Louisville

Thanks
