Subject: Looking for inexpensive repair bike stand. Recommendation needed
I purchased the inexpensive Spin Doctor repair stand and it is worthless.  It will not hold my P2C.  I am looking to return and buy another repair stand.  Looking for recommendation.  Not really will to spend more than $130 or so.  Hopefully something cheaper.  It is for occasional work but I need it to actually hold my bike.

I also would like to find some inexpensive holder for a bike when not using.  Not for repair but just hold the bike.

Thanks in advance for the help.

you can make a stand that will hold your bike when not using. i built one from some old 2x4's that works for simple bike maintenance. compared to what you can buy for $130 i am sure you would not be as impressed with the homebrew version. but it would definitely work well for just holding your bike.

google home built bike repair stand to see many different designs.

Go on craigs list or freecycle and see what you can find. I found a top of the line stand on freecycle. All it cost me was the gas to go get it.

If you're asking about getting something new, you will get what you pay for.  If you can find one used, that's a different story.  I got an Ultimate stand from REI's garage sale that was in new condition for $40.  I spent another $25-30 for the work tray.  I then gave my old stand to a friend without one as a birthday gift.

Keep an eye out as stated above for craigslist or other sources.  Look for something that retails closer to $200 and you will be much happier (not the least of which for saving a bundle).

I also built one using materials sitting around in the garage (4x4, pipe, shelving). It's not pretty, but it's worked well all season.
