Hey - how's everybody doing?? Thank goodness we're almost through another week. I don't know about everybody else, but I definitely have a hard time avoiding food at work. Seems like there's always pastries, breads, chocolate, you-name-it. It's always so tempting and it's not like at home where I can go for a walk to avoid the cravings. I try to keep fruits and veggies to munch on, but their appeal is lost on me when faced with a hunk of chocolate cake. Any tips? Thanks, Sue

Weekends are actually my weakness, when food is less structured for me and I tend to eat out.

How about keep a little dark chocolate at work with you?  So if you do want something sweet, you can spend 50-100 calories on it rather than 500?

Play a mental game - tell yourself anything you can to keep from diving into the sweets.

Remember your goals whatever they may be.

Take a walk at work.  I work in a large building so I can walk around the building.

Drink some tea.  Mint tea and green tea are both good at supressing appetites.

I have a much easier time staying on track at work than at home.  Every morning before leaving the house I plan out my meals and snacks for the day.  I do not have any set meal times.  Instead, I eat a couple hundred calories any time I feel my blood sugar level begin to drop.  The key for me is to not get ravenously hungry where will power is doomed to failure.  During the week I stick to 1600 calories daily.  Then on the weekend when I'm at home surrounded by food, I eat 2600 calories a day.  Hopefully by bumping up the calorie total on weekends, I can keep myself from hitting a weight loss plateau.  My calorie totals may not be for everyone, but they seem to work for me.

Oops. This was supposed to go in the Merry Christmas to Yourself challenge. Thanks for the suggestions and ideas. I definitely like the idea of not getting so hungry that I allow poor choices; maybe that's the ticket. I know, I know, HTFU, right?!
