Subject: LT test today, now what?

So today I did my field run LT test.  Interesting changes in the zones.  First it was really cool and I liked it.  I had a slight fade with three minutes to go, but it only lasted a few seconds.  So my zones on my HRM  according to my age formula on the left and the BT LT caclulator on the right.

Z1 30-123                             Z1 106-136

Z2 124-132                           Z2 137-146

Z3 133-140                           Z3 147-153

Z4 140-158                           Z4 155-160

Z5 159-176                           Z5 161-164

                                             Z5b 165-170

                                             Z5c 170-178

So now I run untill Thanskgiving and work on building my base up.  So I should stay in Z2/3 and really making an effort to stay in Z2.  Do I run every night as I read commented on this site to get my legs body use to the actions and forces applied to my joints and such.  Do I run every other night and rest a day between.  Do I try to run every night and if I just can't make it, take a day off?

Am I correct in the stay in Z2/3 area and does this BT Calculator equal the training bible that was cited in that super long thread here about HR zones?

I changed my HRM, Sports Instrument PRO 9 to AT 161 instead on the MAX HR based on age.  I still have to ry it to see if the zones changed.  Thought I would do it tonight when I go out to weed whack Cool

Interesting on how I was trying to slow down to stay out of Z4 based on age and now Z4 is mostly Z3.

Comments, suggestions, errors in my thinking?

Joe

Oh and Alanis on the Ipod with 10 minutes to go, not cool, had to skip that one

Cool

I did a run LT test last year around December, during a 10K race, which was my longest run at that point. From that point on, I made it a point to stay as exclusively as I could in high zone 2, with the exception of the occasional interval run. It did wonders for my base, staying in Z2 and running consistently, I did my first 10-Mile race in early April at about the same pace as the (late) December 10K.

So I would advise trying to stay as high in zone 2 as you can for the majority of your runs during the base-building period.

Good luck! Of course, the most important thing, is consistent running. Oh, and I ran every other day. With my base coming in, didn't make sense to run on two consecutive days. YMMV of course.
