Subject: Downtown Nashville Pools/Ride Routes

Next weekend I'm traveling to Nashville on business and am trying to find a pool to use for laps.

I found the centenial sports plex but the hours are 9am-6pm!  Is there a spot with real hours?  5-5:30 AM?

Anyone have advice on a 4hr ride route leaving from downtown?

Thanks!

Adam

Did you find a pool?

I'm moving to Nashville next month and am looking for an indoor pool.

Are you sure those are the hours there? I swam for Vandy and we had practice at 6 am and there were always masters, swim team etc..... As far as 4 hour rides are concerned that is a little tougher. Traffic is a little nasty in downtown so I usually drove about 10 miles out and then started driving. I would always do my longer rides on the Natchez Trace Parkway...... usually i would just do out and back so it was nothing very exciting. Its beautiful scenery though, esp this time of year. You can park your car at Loveless Cafe or use that to see where you can get on Natchez if you are riding from downtown. Or i sugest calling a few of the local bike shops but its hard if your not from the area.

Good luck!

I too have found that the Centennial sports complex hours are not that good and change frequently.  Unfortunately, I purchased a years membership just before they cut their budget and changed their hours.

I would suggest going to the Williamson County Indoor Sports Complex in Brentwood, TN.  Nicer facility and home to Excel Aquatics (which offers Triathlon swim training).  It is only minutes from downtown.  The indoor sports complex number is 615-370-3471  and their website is: http://www.wcparksandrec.com/facilities/ISCBrentwood.htm

The pool schedule is 5am-8pm M-F, 8-6 on Sat, and 1-6 on Sunday.

Excel Aquatics information (just in case you want some one on one time with an Olympic gold medalist in swimming):

 I hope this helps...
