Subject: Kinetic Road Machine Set Up Question

Newbie here trying to set up my Kinetic Road Machine.

Can someone help me with determine the correct frame position? My tire size is 23" and I currently have the frame set for position #3 b/c the max tire o.d is 23.80".

However, the legs of the trainer don't touch the ground if open to the legs max position (b/c the tire wheel is hitting the ground).  If I shorten the legs to get a 1.5" rise off the ground, the legs slide down when I start riding.

What am I doing wrong? Anyone have one who can help?

Thanks!

for the benefit of anyone else trying to help, here's the link to the manual:

http://www.kurtkinetic.com/documents/kinetic_manual.pdf

what type of bike do you have that has a max dia 23" tire? Being on a triathlon forum, I would think you would have either 700c or 650c wheel, in which case you would keep the legs in position #1.

undo the nuts that holds the legs in their current position and relocate them to position #1per the manual and reinstall your bike onto the trainer and see if it works.

if that fails, can you post a picture of how you have your bike setup?

I guess I misread both my tire and the chart for the frame position.

The tire reads 700x23c.  How should I have determined position #1 was the right positon from the chart?

 I have an orbea onix.

I'll give it a try.

Thanks for the help

Thanks!

Position #1 is what you want for a 700c wheel. If you literally take a tape measure and measure the diameter of the wheel with the tire on it, that is what the chart refers to. IMO it's a poor choice to describe wheel size; a better chart would have shown the common wheels sized - 700c, 650c, 26", 29" etc. but I suppose there would be those who didn't know what size wheel they had, so the tape measure chart works okay.

The '23' on the tire indicates the tire width, BTW.

You'll be good to go in position #1. Enjoy the Kurt. No, forget that - nobody enjoys being on the trainer
