Expert  757    Florida |  Subject: Am I getting a great deal?I have set an appt. with this person from craigslist to view their 07 specialized allez double for 400.00 with OK tires or 500 with better tires. The price is right for me, plus the seller states it has a computer and clipless pedals-which is a bonus i think. This is my first bike purchase so I want to make sure it's a good deal and im not getting hijacked. States brand new-like condition. | Carrollton, TX | Subject: RE: Am I getting a great deal? Well the Comp just refers to the Compact vs regular Double, so that's not really much of any difference, at least as far as cost goes. The Allez is a good bike, I have the '08 allez elite, and the 08s have gone up in price by about 10-20% over '07s i think. IMO this is a pretty decent deal, I would verify that the components are as stated, with 105s all around it looks like. Since it is aluminum it is more durable than a carbon bike, but I would verify that the fork looks good and check for cracks. |

Expert 757 Florida | Subject: RE: Am I getting a great deal? thanks ZOM! Since I have never done this before, how can i verify the frame is not cracked and that all the compenent pieces are as stated? Also, since it's compact im almost 5'10" and its a 54CM that might be a little tight right? |

I bought a 2007 Allez Double on closeout a year ago for $700, and have been very happy with this bike I'm no expert on secondhand prices, but I would think that $400 with clipless pedals is a good deal. BTW - make sure you know what bike you are getting - there are several differences between the regular Allez Double and the Allez Comp Double with the Comp Double having an upgraded group set and wheels. |

The bike is exactly as described-clipless pedals, only 180 miles on it and the frame is perfect no scratches or cracks or anything. Guy was supernice and was gonna throw in a pair of shoes for me but they didn't fit. Everything looks mint on it. He needed the money to fix his boat so he is selling a few of his roadbikes and I feel like i definitely got a good deal. Heres a pic! Thanks for all the congrats, obviousley i took the wheels off to put it safely in my car and just have the frame upside down for safety for now. Today im taking it to the LBS to have bike tuned up and ready to ride so ill just have him throw the wheels on for me. Im really excited and feel the deal was stellar, can't wait to start riding it today! Oh and im pretty sure this is it.
