From what I have read about Ironman Louisville the water is too warm for wetsuits, is this correct? I was wondering if anyone in the past has worn a wetsuit in this race. If wetsuits are illegal what do you recommend? Are speedo fastskins or speedo lzr allowed?

This past year the water temp was 84 degrees, so yeah no wetsuit.  There's a slim chance it will ever be wetsuit legal unless Kentucky gets a lot of unusually cool summer days.

Speed suits are allowed.  I just wore regular jammers.  They get a nice brown glow to them after swimming in the Ohio.

If you wear a wetsuit in that water, you won't make it off the bike. Its just too hot. You want to keep your core temp lower, bc its just gonna increase throughout the day. BUt, there were plenty of speed suits in the water this year.
