Subject: Which wetsuit??

I'm looking to get an entry level wetsuit.  Price is a huge factor.

Xterra Vortex 2 $200

Neosport $165

I try not to give vague, non answers in my posts (i.e. It depends on ...), but wetsuits are like women's blue jeans. It should fit right and be comfortable and all suits fit differently. A lessor suit that fits well will be faster than a high end wetsuit than fits poorly. So go try them both on and buy the one that fits you best.

i use a neosport and love it, their size chart is right on, i have tried other brands and some were small and some were big, my neosport fits great, was a bargain and is holding up well.  make sure if you order online the company has a decent return policy. I got my suit from wetsuit planet on ebay and their service was great.

I have both a NeoSport sleeveless and a Nineteen sleeveless. The upper body fit is a little better on the Nineteen, but then again it cost over $100 more... The NeoSport is actually easier for me to get off in a hurry, as the legs are cut a little higher.

As long as the fit on the NeoSport is good for you, I don't think you'd go wrong there. But I think $165 is a bit high (at least for the sleeveless model).

FWIW: I used a Vortex 2 as a rental. It was my first wetsuit..and it did the job just fine. Fit well, etc. No idea on Neosport. But I would go with what the poster said above: try them both on (get to a pool if at all possible) and see what works best. You could buy a $500 suit that doesnt fit YOU as well as a $200 suit.

I have a neosport full tri suit and love it.

The only thing you are getting with a more expensive suit is the name.

Generally more expensive suits have more panels, and a higher neoprene rating. IMO though, the neoprene rating isn't important. There are some other features like cut away ankles, textured forearms.

I started off with the full sleeve blue seventy double helix. Recently I purchased a sleeveless Xterra Vortex 2. I've only had a chance to try on the Vortex 2 once, not even swim with it, but it seems good. The sale price was too good to pass up.
