Recommendations for Melbourne

Hey I live in Melbs- so happy to help. What sorts of things is your sister interested in?? Also how old is she- its ok im a girl just gives me a better idea of the sorts of things I may recommend.

She is 40-ish, will be travelling by herself. Just want to spend a couple of days enjoy the city, drink coffee, eat good food. Heard public transportation is excellent in Melbourne, so that's nice. I am not sure if she is a big museum goer, primarily because she never wakes up early. She likes to visit shops but not a big spender. That's all I know for now. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Ok, well based on that I would suggest she visits the following....

1) Chapel St- great shopping, coffee, food and also great people watching
2) Acland St- as above and is by the beach so a really cool location to hang out.
3) Brunswick st- grungy inner city version of above- another really cool place to hang
4) South Bank- has the casino, shopping, cafes/restaurants and is on the yarra (our river that runs through the city) and right near Flinders Street Station (main train station). Close to Federation Square and the other sites of Melbourne (Down Town).
5) The Dandenongs (which is where I grew up). Gorgeous scenary, little antique shops, coffee shops etc etc etc....... amazing drive about 40k out of the city. Could catch a train but would be worth hiring a car
6) She could possibley go to the MCG and watch cricket??? I dont think the pre-season AFL (football) is on at that time. Google AFL and look that up.
7) Botanical Gardens- right near Chapel St Sth Yarra. I work near there and its just GORGEOUS.


Ummmm...... im trying to think what else she may be interested in doing for a couple of days. TBH you can't go wrong when it comes to food and coffee in melbs. Its what we do best !!! : )
