Time we got talking about the most important race of the year!

It's going to be a doozie. Brownie vs Doeboy and Gina vs Jo. There's a bunch of other contenders like Luke Bell, Kate Bevalaqua (?), I'm guessing Rhodsey will be back. Anyone know who else?

Oh yeah, and I'll be there too! I'll be featuring as a first timer somewhere between the mid to back of pack fields if I'm lucky :)

Who else is going to be there? First timer or repeat offender?

I will be there with ya.

This is my first time at IMNZ but second IM (just completed IMWA Dec 08).

Dealing with shin splints and runner's knee right now but hope to get back into running soon so I can do my best for IMNZ.

I'll be there and it'll be my first IM!!  Haven't booked a place to stay yet....

I've got two weeks off from the 23rd of Jan and am going to Taupo to train for the whole two weeks.  Anyone up for joining me (that being you live in NZ)?

HIM in Tauranga this Saturday as well :-)

I'll be there on the sidelines, and hope to be on the start line 2010 work permitting. And I'm doing Tauranga this weekend as well. Best wishes to all of you.

And for my money - Richard Ussher for the dark horse winner for Taupo 09!!

I did this race in 2005.  You guys are in for a treat!!  Beautiful swim, beautiful bike, and beautiful run!  The people of Taupo are some of the nicest people that I have ever met.

Make sure that you take some time to do other things while you're there.  I took helicopter trips up to the Volcanos and then went down to Hawkes Bay to tour some wine vineyards.

I still keep up with several people that I met there so if anyone has any specific area questions I can write them and find out.  Just let me know.

I'll be there - first timer for Ironman distance.

Currently dealing with nerves (was excitment until a few days ago) and an almost complete inability to sleep!

Heading to Taupo on Wednesday, with my support crew following at the end of the week.

Can't wait!!

I just wanted to say good luck to all of you.  I am racing IMFL this year but I wish I could be with you guys.  The 25th anniversary race should be amazing.  My brother ran it last year and said it was an incredible course and an amazing race.

Good luck to all - You are an Ironman!!!

Hey Andy - I'm off on Thursday. Can't take the kids out of school for too long

I'm going to be pretty frantic by the time I get there: Rego thurs afternoon, get the bike all ready, carbo party. Then Fri briefing, might go to the other seminars, bike and bag check in, extended family arrive, and got to find some time to chill out amongst all that too.

I can see why getting there earlier in the week is a good idea!

Good luck to you - might even bump into you somewhere (most likely during the swim given the way I swim!)

Hey guys

Well done to all who did this.  I think I saw Gerrard a couple of times as he passed me on the run!

I was stoked with my first effort (12.24.34) especially since I had a heart operation in December 2007 and was coming off a base of nothing when I started training.  Reckon I've pretty well laid those demons to rest now, but always keeping a watching eye on it.

For a first timer, this whole experience was simply outstanding. We were blessed with the weather, and the organisation at IMNZ is stunning!

I'm still buzzing 4 days later, and thinking seriously of next year.  My coach reckons I can get to about an 11.30 with some good training off this great base but has warned me away from any triathlons over the next couple of months at least.  Anything else is fine.

Next project - I start a new job on Monday after not working for the past 3.5 months!

Cheers
Andy
