Pre-race routine:

Powerbar and Skimmed milk for breakfast. Grabbed my gear bag and left for the race.
Event warmup:

Jogged a few blocks to try to warm up muscles
Run
  • 31m 53s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

The temperature was 4.2 when the horn went off, according to weather underground. Approx. 8 mph winds brought the wind chill into the negatives. It was extremely cold!

About .1 miles into the race I fell on some ice avoiding another runner that fell as well. We were both okay to continue running, but that didn't help my time.
What would you do differently?:

I really should have brought my Yak Traks, however I didn't expect there to be as much snow on the race path as there was.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked about .25 miles, followed by easy stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Overall conditioning. Endurance. My max speed was 8:16/mi, so I know I can be faster, I just can't sustain it at this point.

Event comments:

Overall this was a well run race, it was just very very cold. I'll update with my race positions once they post that...

I ran on the trail Saturday afternoon and it was still cold and patchy.

Are you new to BT?

Hi McFuzz,

Yes, I'm new to BT.   I have a one year cycling background, but swimming and running are both very new to me.
