Overcast
Total Time = 1h 20m 42s
Overall Rank = 68/92
Age Group = (males)
Age Group Rank = 54/62
Pre-race routine:

ate a banana and drank a bunch of water.
Event warmup:

jogged a few hundred yards and stretched out. kept drinking water. used the toilet about 5 times in the hour before. kept jogging to stay warm.
Swim
  • 16m 6s
  • 500 meters
  • 03m 13s / 100 meters
Comments:

My longest continual swim ever. super slow, but i finished it. had to sidestroke for less than 10 seconds twice, just because i gulped water breathing. I got passed a LOT, but I still managed to pass a handful of folks, believe it or not. this was the event that had the most negative impact upon the day, even though i am happy that i did it.
What would you do differently?:

swim faster (i.e. go to the pool more than once a week)
Transition 1
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

the race was reverse, so T1 was run to bike. only 50sec because i didnt need to change shoes. grabbed some water and a gel, bike off the rack and left.
What would you do differently?:

had some trouble getting into the pedals once out of the transition area. i guess the run took more out of me than expected.
Bike
  • 35m 10s
  • 10.5 miles
  • 17.91 mile/hr
Comments:

i was passing people on flats and downhills, only to be passed by them again going up! overall, pleased though.
What would you do differently?:

need to ride hills more.
Transition 2
  • 02m 7s
Comments:

reverse tri, so T2 was bike-to-swim. took a bit longer than expected. had some water and a gel.
What would you do differently?:

hurry up. i had no idea it took so long until i saw the posted time.
Run
  • 26m 31s
  • 3.12 miles
  • 08m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

i was pleasantly surprised at my mile splits (8:30). not too strenuous.
What would you do differently?:

not take sunglasses. it was cloudy and they just fogged right away. i ran with them in my windbreaker pocket.
Post race
Warm down:

walk around, talk to my wife, drink water and stretch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my swimming. thats where i give up minutes rather than seconds.

Event comments:

I had a great time. I felt a lot better about this race than my first, and i am excited to race the next 2 in this series to (hopefully) see some progression. bottom line: good race, but i need to spend more time in the pool to shave time. i give up like 6-8 minutes on the swim to people i am equal to on the other two events.

"MY longest continual swim ever." I would say you did a great job! I must say the reverse order did throw me for a loop. You were one of those crazy guys running around with just a trisuit on the whole morning, weren't you? I was to cold to race w/o my tights.

Anyway, good race and good luck with the upcoming events! Here's to the order not being reversed anymore.
