Subject: WTB: Cervelo Dual or Felt S32 54CM

I'm looking to get into the triathloning this spring and after extensive research have narrowed my search down to just a couple of bikes.  A Cervelo Dual, which is my first choice, or a Felt S32 which is my other first choice.  Looking for a good, well maintained, bike with good components.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  I'm 5-9 180lbs.

I also just did the bike search.  I came to the same conclusion that those 2 were the best for the money.  The 08 cervelo's P2 ultegras and 08 felt s22 (better than the dual and s32) at the same price as the dual and s32 are still available with no miles at many local bike shops (~$1450).  If you buy new you will wind up with free maintenance and a relationship with a shop.

I wound up going with a New Schwinn Prologue from Performance (see their web site for locations).  I paid just under $1000 including tax and clipless pedals.  It is not as nice as the others but the others aren't $600 nicer.

Good luck buying used - you will save a ton of money if you can find the right bike.

 

OH and unless you are sure triathlons are for you and you have the cash to spare - just ride whatever is availble.  Once you have a couple under you belt, buy a nice bike.  I did my first 2 on a $180 bike.
