http://www.pumpkinmantriathlon.com/ Does anyone know much about the Pumpkinman 70.3 event in South Berwick, ME? It looks like last year was the first year for the 70.3, and I have found very little on the race. I did the mooseman 70.3 in 2008 (first tri ever) and ended up around 6:45. Now that I have more races under my belt I am striving to do better, but that time would have put me in the last 5 racers at the 2008 Pumpkinman. There is nothing wrong with finishing at the back of the pack, but I am a little imtimidated doing a race were 75% of the pack is sub 6:00. Anyway, just looing to see if anyone knows much about the race or is thinking about joing me at the back of the pack.

I have heard nothing but good things about the Pumkinman.  I am planning on doing it this fall so you should have some company with in the back of the pack.

is a much flatter bike course than Mooseman for one thing... so that may account for some of the time differences.

A friend of mine and I are doing the pumpkinman this year.  My former chiropracter's wife is the race coordinator.  They are great people and this race has received excellent reviews.  I have heard the field is almost full too, so get in while you can.  The location is also beaufitul.  I have been up there biking a couple times.  It's sweet!

It helps that it is right next door, but because of all of the good publicity, and great things I have heard about it, I am going to make it my first event.  I ll be cheering you on from behind...

I did the sprint, not the half, last year but just about everyone I spoke with had great things to say about both races.  It is on my "to do" list for half IMs once I feel I am ready.  Highly recommend it so sign up ASAP as it is filling up.

And don't worry about time.  If you do happen to finish near the bottom this year just think how great it'll feel next year when you jump up to the middle/front next year.
