Ok, so after one hour on the bike my back begins to get sore. I rode for 107 minutes on Friday and ended with a very sore back. I think it is just muscle soreness and not an injury. It has lasted until Tuesday. ANy ideas? Could it be my seat posistion, or my position? This has been the longest i have gone so far, could it just me muscle soreness? Any ideas are helpful.

Do you have any more specifics, like where on the back is the pain?

How much time do you have on the bike this year?

Is this a tri bike and are you in aero for that hour?

Finally, is the bike fitted to you?

Was this ride a significant increase in ride time/intensity for you?  Did you ride more hills than usual?  Not uncommon to have back pain in these cases, though it should go away within a few days.  Often helps me feel better if I go for a long walk or a swim.

Hello

I am new here but have been a bike rider for many years.  Sounds like you need to get your bike fitted to your body.  Off the shelf bikes, mail order bikes or used bikes may not fit you.

I had this problem for about two years and could hardly stand-up after riding.  I purchased a new road bike from a locally owned bike store, had it fitted to my 6' 5" body and have never had another back problem after riding.

Yes agreed completely, when the bike is not fitted accordingly to our body, when end the road with pain in our back. Even I too had suffered this kind of problem when I bought my new bike. At times it made me even think to leave my ride as the pain gone much worse. Then I changed my bike fittings according to my body(6' 2") and also seeked medical advice from here http://www.irehab.com(referred by one of my friend) about stretching exercises which helped me on a greater deal later on.
