Sunny
Total Time = 1h 24m 28s
Overall Rank = 21/425
Age Group = 25-29 male civ
Age Group Rank = 1/18
Pre-race routine:

wake up-start coffee-take hot shower-eat, 2 large oranges, 1cp coffee, I banana- load bike drive to race
Set up transition area- check in at registration
Event warmup:

Ride bike about 4 miles, easy shifting thru the gears
light stretch-couple easy jog-report to starting line
Run
  • 17m 50s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 05m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good.
Maybe a bit fast but felt strong.

What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 00m 30s
What would you do differently?:

I should have left my shoes on my bike, and put my biek closer to the run out, so that I would have to run less with my bike.
Bike
  • 46m 26s
  • 18.6 miles
  • 24.03 mile/hr
Comments:

Switched my cog to a 25 from a 23, and struggled finding the gear I wanted to be in. Like there wasn't a gear that I could produce power with and not blow up.
Felt slow and frustrated.
What would you do differently?:

Ride harder, not change bike set up so close to a race.
Transition 2
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

Really good T2 for me, in and out fast, not usre of the time ecause they included it in my last run time, but I would say less than a minute.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 19m 12s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

Came of bike hard and fast, knew there were racers who past me on the bike that I shouldn't have.
I really struggled the last mile, two stacked rollers knocked my legs out from under me. But I keep pushin; knew runners would catch me if I allowed my pace to drop too much.
(really wanted to beat Heather Fuhr, but she dropped me on this portion of the race and finished 1:14 ahead of me, next time Heather)

What would you do differently?:

Paced better.

Post race
Warm down:

Rode bike to truck and jogged back followed by ligth stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mind. I think I expected the race to be low key,a nd a lot of fast athletes showed up (Norman Stadler-creamed all of us, Heather Fuhr), I allowed doubt to creep in.
And my biek performance didn't justify my ability level.

Event comments:

The Camp Pendleton Race series races are always very well organized.
They provide a great racing enviorment.
