Subject: Triathlons easy distance from NY City
Hi all

I'm looking for any triathlons that are close to NY city and easy to access.  I'm a typical NYer and I don't have a car so any that can be reached by train or any type of public transport would be great.

I only decided to try triathlons in the last couple of months and I realise many of the good local ones are already sold out - NY City Tri, Westchester Tri, Long Island Tri.  At least I know for next year that I need to enrol in advance.

Any hints on what people do without a car for tris would be helpful!

Happy rainy Sunday.

On Long Island, TOBAY sprint in Oyster Bay (held in August) and the Town of Hempetead sprint in Long Beach (September) are easy to get to via LIRR and your Pumas. If I recall correctly, both are about 40 to 50 minutes on the train from Penn Station. Check the rules about riding with a bike though. I'm pretty sure Tobay is closed for this year, so that is for future reference. I don't know not about Long Beach.

I just signed up for Tobay a few days ago so it may still be available, i did not know about the Long Beach one, thanks and i hope it is still available. Go to the race link at top of page and put in your zip code it will show you all the available ones.
