Swim
  • 14m 46s
  • 800 yards
  • 01m 51s / 100 yards
Comments:

Went out way too fast. Got bopped in the shoulder, goggles leaked, etc. Panic attack after 6 lengths...gathered myself and finished strong. Just wanted to get around in 15 minutes and I did!
What would you do differently?:

Start slowly!!
Transition 1
  • 05m
Comments:

Took my time and changed out of wet tri shorts into dry bike shorts and tights. Too cold outside.
What would you do differently?:

Perhaps I should have gone with the tri shorts and just let them air-dry although that wasn't too tempting given the temps. I just could have done this transition faster. Also should have gulped some powergel.
Bike
  • 49m
  • 11 miles
  • 13.47 mile/hr
Comments:

My old Soma 10-speed (20+ years old) weighs a ton! Still, I did OK considering my lack of saddle time.
What would you do differently?:

Get fuel in me (powergel) and train more. A new bike would be nice, ha ha.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

Pretty quick. Shot of powergel almost made me puke.
What would you do differently?:

Can't think of anything.
Run
  • 43m
  • 11 miles
  • 03m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Not used to running this slow. Just started running last year and am getting closer to my holy grail which is 7:00 min/mi, but took half the distance just trying to get my legs under me. Wasn't prepared for the transition from the bike! Finished very strong though (7:15-7:30/mi).
What would you do differently?:

Brick training.
Post race
Warm down:

None

What limited your ability to perform faster:

First ever competitive swim, went out too fast, slow T1, lack of bike training, no brick training.

Event comments:

My first ever tri is in the books and it was one of the single greatest experiences of my life. Having my wife and girls cheering for me at the end brought lots of happy tears.
