My HIM is coming right up. This is the last build week before the taper begins. Last week was a tough week as well with the week before that being a recovery week. Pretty much since the recovery week my legs have felt pretty fatigued.

I feel I am sleeping a decent amount and eat reasonably well. My long run today went pretty dang poorly and I had to walk because my legs just wouldn't go. Cardio wise fine, HR a little higher than I would like but not out of whack.

What should I do? For reference...I am following the BT HIM program and have been following it pretty closely. I do sometimes miss a short workout here or there but I've been diligent in my overall training (I think). Hope that helps a bit since I don't log using BT.

Recovery week (2 weeks ago) - planned was 5:00 hours. I did 2:27:25 because i really wanted to recover. Workouts were a bit more intense than they should have been

Last week - planned was 8:50. I did 5:39:21 because quite frankly it's been raining here almost every day for a month and I missed 1 long bike ride, the only long ride I've ever missed.

This week - Planned is 9:20. I am on track for the 9:20 but again my legs feel terrible
Next week Taper
Following week - Taper  + race

This isn't going to help much - because I am training for my first HIM as well ... but here's my 0.02$.  I had a recovery week last week and so far my recovery weeks have felt worse and worse.  The first couple were great - last week I felt like someone had tied a couple of sandbags to me and I was just dragging all week.  I blew off more workouts than I ever have before and generally whined all week.

This week I'm tired - but I'm enjoying the first week of quality workouts.  My legs are more tired at the end of every workout ...

I'm guessing it's normal to feel progressively more tired because you are putting progressively more stress on the body... I don't know though... People here will know way more than me - I just know how I feel right now. (I'm 5 weeks out)

Thanks for the reply! I just wonder if there's anything I can do. I had some tough weeks in there but the last 2 have been ugly unfortunately. My bigger concern is I don't want my legs to feel this bad after tapering

they're tired and they should be but that's what the taper is for but if you don't think you can make it to the taper then ease up one day or add in another rest day. if your body is screaming out for rest I say give it skipping 1 workout and showing up to the race healthy and rested is your goal not broken and worn out. or am I just being a wuss?
