Subject: RE: Getting over a mental blockwhen you exert yourself there is generally a delay between the action and the perceived "feeling" of exhaustion. This is due to the time it takes for the muscles to send signals to the brain requesting the body to stop putting them under such pressure, so they can recover. What you will need to do is train your body to cope with this exact type of hill, so when you tackle the hill, instead of your brain saying "OK the hard part is over, lets shut down for a bit now" it says "OK we just did a nasty uphill and this is usually followed by another sprint exertion so lets send even more blood and oxygen to the muscles" it sounds strange but muscles have a "memory" and they learn from experience- people how have a recurring injury will tell you this is true! perhaps you could experiment with eating a gel at certain distances before the hill so it kicks in right at the top, ready for your sprint finish good luck |
