Has anybody done the Chisago Half-IM?
How is the bike course?

I did the bike lag at Liberty Half-IM for a relay team and was suprised by the rolling hills. The Chisago web site says there are some rollers, but mostly flat. How do the two courses compare?

Chisago is my first half-IM, so with 4 wks left, I'm starting to get a little nervous... Any advice?

I guess they changed the course some from last year.  It was a pretty easy bike course with very little in the way of hills last year.  I'm hoping the change was to modify the last 6 miles or so of the ride.  Very bumpy road for final push just when your body doesn't want the extra pain.  Considering the large number of participants I liked the race.  Make sure to bring own tp just in case, they ran out last year.  I'll be there again this year.

I mapped the new course.

Click on elevation on the right.  It shows 499' of climbing.  That's less than 10' of climbing per mile for 56 miles.  Should be a fast ride again this year!

Good luck with your first HIM. My first was liberty and it was fun if not a bit painful. I pushed the bike a bit too hard (didn't do enough hills in training) and so I paid for it on the run.

I'm also doing Chisago Half and I'm hoping to improve now that I've thrown some more hills into my long rides and have a better feel for pacing. I'm just praying it's not 90 degrees with 80% humidity!

Thanks for the info. It's nice to hear it should be a relatively flat course.

I agree, heat would not be good. These last couple of days would be perfect.

Any rule of thumb on how hard to go out on the bike (without blowing up on the run!)?
