Subject: I think I've hit the wall...

So this is my first year of tris and I've been going pretty gung-ho in training since November (training log is religiously completed.)  My first sprint was two weeks ago and I had a blast, and I have another one in two weeks (with one more the week after.)  This next race is the one I'm REALLY looking forward to, but for the last several days I feel like I've lost my mojo.  Not really interested in training, not eating properly, etc.  It probably hasn't helped that it's been unusually cloudy, rainy, and cool for the past six weeks.

Anyway, I think I should have taken three days off after the first race (I took one day) to recharge, but what's done is done.  Instead I'm debating having an unstructured week after the third race, which will then give me six weeks until my final two sprints of the season.  What do you think, and more importantly, what do you typically do as far as scheduling breaks after races?

Thanks.

Look, if you feeling worn out or if you just aren't in the mood to train... DON'T! Plain and simple. Take a couple of days off. Lay on the sofa, hang out with friends, feel like a normal person again... and I bet you will be rearing to go back to training after that.

How long one takes off after a race is a personal choice and specific to each person.

I can tell you that after Ironman Ketucky last year... I did nothing for a good month or two afterwards. I loved very minute of it. Whereas others do an IM and go back to training the next week.

This is my first season as well, first tri was about a month ago.  And I was in the same boat in a way.  After the tri I took three days off to recovery and started back up again.  And then I hit the wall.  Just didnt feel like training.  I took 2 unscheduled days off from training, and thought thru what I been through and thought of my race.  I learned, based on my race results, I spent all my training in base mode and nothing in build mode.  So I switched up my training, I know I can do the distance. Now I am working on getting faster at the 3 disciplines. Working on speed intervals.  I will admit, the workouts are not as long and I am into the workouts because I am focusing alot on the intervals and time.  Just an idea to pass along. Good luck to you.
