I went out there today and went though the course.  I ran some of the trails and drove the bike course.  Then checked out the water enterance/ exit's.

It kind of puts a whole new outlook on it.

I swear the one " old open air camp"  that you run though, on the way to the second swim.  I was waiting for Jason to jump out with his hockey mask and machette!

Some of the trails had tress laying over them.  The exit of the first swim, you step out of the water and are on the trail in two strides.  Then it's uphill and ruts and big rocks for a few hundred yards.

The bike course is nice.

You have fun with that Joe!  I just did She Rocks Sprint out there, and the lake was choppy, the bike was nice and the trail run was a challenge!  It will be a one of a kind experience for sure!

Don't get caught by Jason! :-)

Yea, I am not to sure now.  I guess after yesterday I am second guessing if it's a smart move or not.  It's the very last swim that has me asking myself.  I am going to see how strong my swimming is by the end of July.

I will say that after running a few trails yesterday, I have a new respect for those Xterra people.

Joe

Of course IF I still have a job is also a big factor.

Just wondering if anyone else thinks the swim was a little long today. It seemed wider between the turn buoys than last year. If you look at the times compared to last year, almost across the board they are 2-3 minutes slower. I thought I swam much faster yet lost almost two minutes.

Regardless, a great race and a great day for it!

It was long. I heard that when they set out the buoys this morning it was still foggy on the water and that as a result the course ended up a bit long.

The swim sure felt long to me too. I am getting much faster (for me) in the water--if that was a half mile, then I have had a major setback. But, boy was that a great race. A really nice venue and well organized. I will definitely be back next year.

I find that I love the trail running--maybe I need to try out this xterra thing?

Definitely a great race. If you enjoyed the trail running you should head to the Poto for some training runs. The trailhead is at Silver Lake and there is a fantastic 5 mile loop that goes out west from the beach. You can get an ows in there too and make it a brick.

Thanks for the confirmations about the swim length. It makes me feel better about trying an Oly!
