Subject: First back tire flat...then another
I officially had my first back tire flat at mile 12 of a 22 mile ride. I haven't changed a backtire since I was 15...luckily I had a tube and all the gear so it came back to me and got it changed. About 3/4 mi. from my house whammo, flat tire #2. My front brake was loose too. Cursed ride!

I just wanted to comment on how friendly Fort Worth bikers are. I had about 20 people ride by me and everyone asked if I had what I needed, etc. You have to love cyclist/triathletes.

Sprint Tri #2 next weekend. thx

u know, one of the first things I tell a newby is "learn to fix a flat"

i had no idea how many people don't kno and are out there risking getting stranded.
to you, reader, KNOW HOW TO CHANGE A TUBE/FIX A FLAT.

The easiest thing to do is let the air out of a tire and then tinker with it.  U wanna be able to pull the tube out and then out it back in and inflate the tire.

You'll need: tire levers (avail @ all LBS) and pump/CO2 system
I suggest a pump for home and CO2 for carryon bike.  And if you use CO2, know that for some magical reason the tire will be flat again tomorrow but believe me, you'll just need to put somre regular air on it.

In addition to knowing how tho chane the tire spend a few dollars and if you carry co2 during your ride practice useing the co2 to inflate the tire at home.  that way you can figure out the tricks or if there are any bugs to workout when using co2. It looks simple but the first time you do it you may accidently waste a cylinder of co2.
