Subject: Aquabike option being added to two Georgia races

Greetings neighbors.

Just an FYI to let everybody know that Chuck Dunlop, RD for GA's Tri the Park series (http://web.mac.com/cdunlop3/Tri_the_Parks/Events.html), is going to add an Aquabike (swim/bike) category to the upcoming Mistletoe (Appling, GA, near Augusta) and Richard B Russell (Elberton, GA near Greenwood and not far from Greenville) races.  Mistletoe is a sprint-distance race and Russell is an olympic.

For folks who want to race, but are limited or unable to do so due to running-related injuries, Aquabike is perfect.

As some of you know, the Aquabike Series was a pilot program in 2005 in which athletes could compete in the swim and the bike portions of a triathlon; in 2006, USA Triathlon sanctioned about 30 Aquabike events with many taking place at the 70.3 events.  Some shorter distance races (sprint and olympic/international) offer Aquabike, but not enough do and this excludes a lot of otherwise healthy folks from competing.

Chuck was very receptive to adding Aquabike after I contacted him last month and the fact that he's doing it so quickly says a lot about his desire to serve the multisport community.  FYI, in case you're wondering, Chuck's Tri the Park series races (most of them sprint distance tri/duathlons) are akin to the Set Up Events races that folks from GA enjoy doing in SC.  Chuck and his team really care about the athlete experience and do their very best to put on top quality events.

Please help spread the word, so Chuck (and perhaps RD's around the region) will continue to make Aquabike an option.

Thanks!
