Total Time = 55m 14s

Pre-race routine:

Woke up around 5:30 AM, got stuff packed in the car for the day, and drove to Ann Arbor. Arrived around 8 am. Met trixie, charles and fromer (and his sister) and registered. That was when I decided to do the 10K. After that we stood around and tried desperately to stay warm.
Event warmup:

Not much of a formal warm-up. It was really more an effort to try and stay warm, more than anything.
Run

Comments:

Like I said - went out too fast, but managed to sill post a decent time. Charles and trixie were great. Charles took my jacket when I started sweating to death about mile 3 (which resulted in some acrobatics with the race number, and trixie paced me through the last .2 of the run so I finished strong. I LOVE THE MICHIGAN MAFIA.
What would you do differently?:

NOT go out for the first 2 miles at a 7:40 min mile pace!
Post race
Warm down:

Not too much of an issue temp wise since it was still freezing. Some light streching and then breakfast at Angelos. Then on to the 15 mile bike ride on Huron River Drive.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Too fast at the beginning, and I am nursing either a shin splint or some sort of bruise on my left shin

Event comments:

It is GREAT to do races with the Michigan Mafia!

Official time is now up. I was slightly faster than I posted yesterday. And slightly under 9 min miles which feels pretty good for this point in the season. We went out WAY too fast. I wanted to do 8:30s, trixie was on board with that, and so was Charles, until the gun that is. Then they took off at a smokin' 7:40/mile pace. I hung with them for almost the entire first lap, but that was it. I was smoked. I did the third mile in about 9:45, then 9:01; 8:39 and 9:31 respectively. (These are a little rough since I accidentally erased my lap times from my watch. Going by memory here)
Course: It was a 2* loop of the 5K route. THe loop was mostly flat until the third and sixth mile. Then it was uphill. a brutal place for an uphill on a run, but hey, we got through it.

Tie yourself to the mast!  Avoid the siren song of the 7 min miles at all costs!  The mafia will run us all into the ground if we can't resist the temptation!

Way to finish the run, and way to hang with the nut cases for the whole first lap...nice run, wish I could have joined you.
