Subject: need strong wheels...suggestions?
I currently have crappy alex wheels on my bike and I frequently have to get them trued up.  I want to get new wheels, but I need suggestions from the clydesdales...I am 6'5" 218.  I put a lot of stress on my wheelset.  I was looking at some Mavic wheels, as well as some FSA aero wheels.  I here great things about Mavic, being that you get a lot of bang for your buck.  However, I know very little about FSA wheels.  Please throw some knowledge my way!

I asked the same question last month because I kept busting spokes on my alex wheels.  The Bear suggested mavic open pro w/ ultegra hubs for the quality/price pont.  I took the advice and have not had any problems so far.  FWIW I am 6'2 230.

Pick up a set of Ultegra/Open Pros from pretty much anywhere. They're not aero, but you surely won't break them. Under $300 too.

Also, pretty much anything with at least 28 spokes should be plenty strong. Also, the Velocity Deep-V rim is very durable. I've been riding a set for over 2 years (6'2", weight from 225 to 200) and I haven't had a single problem with them.

I have to put in a  vote for Neuvation M28s.  I have put about 600-700 miles on them so far and I love them.  I am currently 6'5", 220 though I was about 240 when I first started to ride them.  I have hit some potholes that I was sure were going to knock them out of true but they are still running true as the day I got them.  They were around $250.

Hand built by a good wheel builder. Velocity Aerohead rims on Shimano hubs, 32 hole, 3 cross lacing with 14/15/14 DT swiss spokes. I weigh 230-240 and have ridden these for years without trouble. I race cyclocross with mine and still have no issues. The inexpensive mavic / shimano wheels are probably ok, but they're built by machine and the tension can be neglected making them less durable than they could be if done by hand.

I am 210 pounds and have Mavic Ksyrium Equipe.  While not top of the line I have never had a problem with them and I have put approximately 1000 miles on them.  I bought my bike used and they were already on it so they could have allot more miles on them.

Spinergy Stealth PBO's

You can read all the reviews here
