got this in my email just now:

"Thank you for registering for the 2009 Tri-ing for Children's Triathlon!  I am Colleen Poblocki, the volunteer coordinator for this year's event. We are still looking for volunteers for the TFC Adult Race on Sunday, July 26!  Volunteers will receive a volunteer t-shirt as well and food and beverages post race. If you know of any family or friends that would be willing to help out at this exciting event, please contact me at [email protected] or simply have them register as a volunteer on line at triingforchildrens.com under the Volunteer tab. No triathlon experience is needed. We'd appreciate it if they would sign up by Thursday of this week so the Race Director can get the positions assigned and send out the volunteer information.  It takes over 175 volunteers to put on this race, so any help you can provide is great.  Recruiting volunteers is the TFC charity committee obligation so we hope you can help us out.  Please forward this email on.  We hope your training is on track and we all look forward to a safe and successful race!"

Volunteer page is here, if anyone is available that day:

This would be a great cause, too, but I'll be in Iowa for our final basketball tourney that weekend.

Not racing and no boys in the house.  I wonder if volunteering with the wee three year old would work?  Hmmm...

I also got the following email regarding the race....

Hello -

We are looking for swim buddies for this year's TFC Triathlon at Ottawa Lake State Park on July 26th.  All you have to do is swim with one or more people in the 1/2 sprint or sprint distance to help them get through.  This is something that really helps the new participants make it through their first triathlon.  The swim buddy does not physically help the participant, but is there for encouragement and helping keep them calm.

If this is something you are interested in and can help with, please let me know.  Race Day Events would be happy to comp your entry into a future event in exchange for your help.

Sincerely,

Ryan Griessmeyer

As a member of the board, I would really appreciate any one who can help.  this event is a great event for a great cause - KIDS.

I am volunteering on Children Tri Day- but the adult always needs help - hope to see everyone there

Thanks

O.K., I did it... I signed up for the volunteer thing -- do you think I should try to be a swim buddy??? (I could always use the inspiration of 'hey, you're faster than me..')
